Ghana Participates in Africa Week at UNESCO

Africa Week was initiated as part of the celebration of World Africa Day (May 25th).  This day commemorates the creation of the Organization of African Unity, now known as African Union (AU), on May 25, 1963 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Under this year’s theme of “Intangible Heritage: Pride and Joy of Africa”, Member States’ Delegations of the Africa Group of UNESCO showcase the richness of the heritage and cultural diversity of Africa through exhibitions, conferences, film screenings, a Bazaar and many other activities at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (22 – 25 May 2018).
The Ghana Delegation has a stand with made-in-Ghana products at the Bazaar, where we give away branded Ghana chocolate with every purchase.  At our stand the Director-General of UNESCO, Madame Audrey Azoulay actually asked for Ghana chocolate, which she said she had heard so much about!   Ghana also has an exhibition highlighting some of our intangible cultural heritage – dance, festivals, puberty rites, Ananse stories, kente weaving and Adinkra symbols.
