ELIZABETH AFUA SARKODIE-MENSAH is a native of Atwima Techiman in the Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She attended elementary schools in Kumasi and Sekondi-Takoradi before going to Fijai Secondary School in Sekondi for her “O” Levels, and Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast for her “A” Levels. She graduated from the University of Ghana (Legon) in 1979 with a BA (Combined Honors) in French and Spanish and a minor in English. She has a Master of Science in Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, USA, and a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from Harvard University. She currently works as a Research/Instruction Librarian at Merrimack College in Massachusetts.
