Historic Inauguration of NPP-USA Washington Seattle Chapter Marks a New Dawn in Diaspora Political Engagement

Seattle, WA – In the grand ballroom of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Seattle, the New Patriotic Party-USA (NPP-USA) celebrated the inauguration of its Washington Seattle Chapter, weaving a new thread into the fabric of diaspora political engagement. The chapter’s launch marks a pivotal point for Ghanaians abroad, signaling a deepened commitment to democratic values and proactive participation in governance.

Olivia Owusua, the chapter’s inaugural chair, delivered a stirring speech, captivating the audience with a message of unity and progress. “As we forge this new chapter, we are reminded that the New Patriotic Party is more than a political platform; it is a family, bound by shared values and a collective vision for a prosperous Ghana,” Owusua articulated, outlining a robust agenda focused on ‘Development in Freedom’.

The luminaries in attendance included NPP-USA Branch executives, with Mrs Obaa Yaa Frimpong at the helm, who emphasized adherence to the constitutional tenets of both Ghana and NPP-USA. She advocated for a governance style rooted in consultation and encouraged the newly elected executives to seek guidance in addressing challenges. “Always be guided by what our constitution and bye-laws state, and you’ll never stray from the right path,” Obaa Yaa advised.

Adding to the guidance for the new chapter, the General Secretary of NPP-USA, Mr. Augustine Agbenaza, underscored the importance of the constitution and bye-laws, urging the executive body to internalize these documents and allow them to inform their decision-making processes.

James Owusu, serving as the first vice, shared wisdom on the sacrifices required in the pursuit of political causes. “Loyalty and commitment to the NPP and NPP-USA’s cause come with their costs, but they are the backbone of our strength and the harbingers of our achievements,” he remarked, acknowledging the dedication needed to navigate the political landscape.

Among the esteemed attendees were NPP-USA branch executive figures such as James Owusu, 1st Vice Chairman; Augustine Agbenaza, Secretary; Bright Gyimah “Levels”, Director of Research and Elections; Paulina Asantewaa, Women’s Organizer, and Ebo Quansah, IT Director. The chapter chairs in attendance were Joe Manu from the LA chapter, Raymond Boateng from the Massachusetts chapter, Frank Antwi from the New York chapter and Janis Asare Bediako from the Washington Metro chapter. The presence of these individuals underscored the collective support for the new chapter’s goals and aspirations.

The new executive committee of NPP-USA Washington Seattle Chapter, a blend of seasoned and emerging leaders, includes Kwame Duah as the 1st Vice Chair, Alhaji Sani Mohammed as the 2nd Vice Chair, with Jonas Asamoah Boateng and Isha Basinnaa as Secretary and Deputy Secretary respectively. Ensuring the financial integrity of the chapter are Latif Saaka Alhassan as Treasurer and Edward Yeboah as Financial Secretary. The organizational front is strongly represented by Stephen Osei and Alfred Owusu as Organizer and Deputy Organizer respectively, with a vibrant youth wing led by Abass Gumah. The women’s concerns are placed in the capable hands of Akosua Avevor, while Hamdu Alhassan Sanda coordinates the Nasara wing, signifying the chapter’s inclusivity. The communications team, vital for bridging the information gap, comprises Kojo Owusu as Director and Peter Kuug Naroog as his deputy.

As the evening’s proceedings concluded, the attendees left with a sense of inspiration and a clear vision of the work ahead in their quest to helping the mother party led by their newly elected Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, break-the-eight. The inauguration was not only a testament to the chapter’s potential but also a rallying call for the Ghanaian diaspora to engage, contribute, and shape the future of their nation, no matter where they reside.

This milestone event for the NPP-USA reflects a maturing diaspora's commitment to impacting Ghanaian politics and policy positively. The Washington Seattle Chapter stands as a testament to the belief that wherever Ghanaians are in the world, their love for the nation and commitment to its progress remain unwavering.
