NPP Has Not Rescheduled Date for Parliamentary Primaries

The NPP has taken notice of statement-making rounds on social media, which was published on some news portals including Ghanaweb suggesting that the party has rescheduled the date of its parliamentary primaries.

The statement further alleges that this latest decision had become necessary following the Electoral Commission’s announcement that it shall begin the compilation of a New Voters Register on April 18, 2020, and that, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is expected to meet in the course of the week to agree on a new date for the primaries.

The party wishes to state unequivocally that no such decision has been taken. It is also not on the table for consideration. The statement is, therefore, blatant falsehood and has no basis. Accordingly, the party entreats the general public to disregard it.

For the party avoidance of doubt, the NPP wishes to state once again that the date for the party’s parliamentary and presidential primaries still remains APRIL 25, 2020, and that, any communication to the contrary should be treated with all the contempt that it deserves.

Thank you.

JOHN BOADU
GENERAL SECRETARY
