NPP-USA Carolina Chapter Congratulates Chairman Dr. Fred K. Asamoah

Charlotte, North Carolina: The parliamentary primaries of January 27th, 2024, marked the final phase of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) internal contest for the Offinso North Constituency where Honorable Collins Augustine Ntim (the incumbent and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization & Rural Development) and Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah (Executive Director – CTVET) faced the delegates for the ticket of the NPP. The free and fair election was guided by the directives of the National and Ashanti Regional Executives of the NPP under the supervision of the Electoral Commission. Dr. Asamoah who was a first timer on the ballot received a massive endorsement from the delegates to lead the constituency for the general elections on December 7th, 2024. Dr. Asamoah obtained 378 votes (62%) with the incumbent Member of Parliament coming in second with 231 (37.9%) and Rockson Kwaku Adu Boahen receiving 1 vote (0.2%).

Gearing up to the 2012 general elections, the then running-mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (now the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP) and some party National Executives (i.e., Late Sir John, Anthony Karbo, Sammy Awuku and others) came to Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, to inaugurate the Carolina Chapter which was single-handedly formed by Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah supported by his young and vibrant executives. Dr. Asamoah was the founder and first Chairman of the Chapter. In 2014, the Carolina Chapter (then, known as the Charlotte Chapter) hosted its first NPP-USA Branch Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. The conference was graced by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (on his second visit to the Chapter) and some of the then National Executives. Leading to the conference, Dr. Asamoah was vying for the NPP-USA Branch First Vice Chairmanship; fortunately, he won resoundingly. The Branch Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina was hailed as being the best ever national conference under the Chairmanship of Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah.

The 2016 general elections and various campaign activities in the United States saw the immense contributions of Dr. Asamoah. As the Carolinas Chapter Chairman and First Vice Chairman of NPP-USA Branch, Dr. Asamoah coordinated several initiatives that contributed to the victory of the New Patriotic Party and our subsequent assumption of the seat of government.

In February 2017, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah as the Executive Director of the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET). With hardwork and commitment to the job, Dr. Asamoah has  ensured that technical and vocational education has gained its appropriate relevancy in the Ghanaian Educational system with technical and vocational workers now upscaling for innovation through international skills competitions.

In September 2021, the President awarded his competent delivery of work by re-appointing Dr. Asamoah as the Director-General for the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET). Dr. Asamoah was part of the team that developed the five-year strategic plan to restructure TVET delivery in Ghana and aligned it with the government’s vision of using TVET as a tool for job creation, industrial development, and economic growth.

The NPP-USA Carolina Chapter is very proud of her founder and chairman for sacrificing for the national development of the country through the optimization of technical and vocational education as a tool for job creation. Dr. Asamoah has proven to Ghanaians that diasporans have immense experience to contribute to nation building. The delegates of Offinso North have rewarded Dr. Asamoah’s hard-work for the NPP Party, the NPP-USA Branch, the Carolina Chapter and Ghana as a whole by crowning him the winner to represent the constituents in the Parliament of Ghana come December 7, 2024. Indeed, Dr. Asamoah is a valuable asset for the country. The Chapter wishes to congratulate and pledge her unwavering support for the candidacy of Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Offinso North.
