“Our Tradition, Our Values, Our Future – Building Unity and Cohesion”
The New Patriotic Party–USA Branch (NPP-USA) has officially launched its Values and Heritage Learning Series, a groundbreaking initiative designed to reconnect members worldwide to the Party’s proud history, enduring principles, and constitutional values.
Held virtually on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the two-hour webinar marked the official launch of a continuing learning series that will blend interactive Zoom webinars with a forthcoming asynchronous e-learning platform. Together, these formats will form the NPP-USA Values and Tradition Training Program, a structured approach to deepening members’ understanding of the Party’s ideology, strengthening internal cohesion, and nurturing disciplined, value-driven leadership across all NPP-USA chapters.
A New Era of Political Education
This initiative is the first of its kind by any external branch of the New Patriotic Party. It represents a strategic shift toward sustained political education—using technology to promote civic literacy, ideological renewal, and global connectivity within the Party’s growing diaspora membership.
Opening the session, Branch Chairperson Mrs. Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong described the program as “an institutional rebirth and a model of digital civic education that should be replicated across all Party branches in the diaspora and constituencies in Ghana.” She noted that the initiative will “transform members into informed custodians of the Party’s ideals rather than passive followers of its politics.”
Keynote Reflections on Heritage and Ideology
Nana Obiri Boahen, Esq., former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, delivered a passionate lecture tracing the Party’s ideological journey from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) through the United Party (UP) to the modern-day NPP. He reminded participants that the NPP’s foundation rests on liberty, responsibility, and property-owning democracy, and urged all members—especially the youth—to defend these ideals as the essence of democratic accountability and freedom.
He also reflected on lessons from recent electoral challenges, emphasizing the need for deeper grassroots engagement and renewed commitment to internal democracy, discipline, and merit-based leadership.
Following Nana Boahen, Madam Elizabeth Akua Ohene, veteran journalist and former Minister of State, delivered a compelling address on “The Ideological Triad – Danquah, Busia, and Dombo.” She explained how:
-
J.B. Danquah championed liberty and the rule of law,
-
Dr. K.A. Busia advanced human-centered democracy and education, and
-
S.D. Dombo promoted inclusiveness and grassroots development.
Together, their philosophies formed the NPP’s enduring center-right identity built on freedom, enterprise, and compassion. Madam Ohene urged members to preserve these roots, warning that “our political strength rests not in personalities but in the permanence of our ideas.”
Addressing Governance and Party Development
The event also featured remarks from the NPP General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, who underscored the importance of strengthening internal governance, upholding constitutional order, and investing in continuous education through structured training.
Participants discussed a range of strategic issues, including:
-
The need to modernize member training and documentation of the Party’s history.
-
Clarification of constitutional interpretations and voting rights within the Branch framework.
-
The role of political education in addressing recent divisions and rebuilding public trust in the Party’s ideals.
Participation, Next Steps, and Program Development
The launch attracted active participation from members across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, uniting diverse voices under one virtual platform. Participants described the event as both educational and inspiring, expressing renewed enthusiasm to promote the NPP’s philosophy and heritage in their local communities.
Following the successful launch, the NPP-USA Planning Committee outlined its next steps to sustain the momentum:
-
Schedule upcoming webinar sessions under the Values and Heritage Learning Series.
-
Develop course materials and learning modules for the asynchronous e-learning program, covering the NPP’s history, core values, structure, Constitution, and the NPP-USA By-Laws.
-
Coordinate facilitators and resource persons from across the diaspora and Ghana to ensure diverse perspectives and engaging delivery.
-
Engage all chapters and members to actively participate and share insights, ensuring the training program becomes a living repository of Party knowledge and tradition.
As the series progresses, subsequent sessions will explore topics such as:
-
The NPP’s Constitutional Framework and Governance Principles
-
Leadership Ethics and Party Discipline
-
Advancing Unity and Cohesion in the Diaspora
-
Practical Applications of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo Legacy
The NPP-USA Values and Heritage Series stands as a beacon of innovation and intellectual revival—proof that the Party’s future lies not only in electoral victories but in the defense, education, and transmission of the ideals that gave birth to it.
As the theme declares, “Our Tradition, Our Values, Our Future,” the program calls on every patriot to uphold unity, discipline, and ideological clarity—the twin pillars upon which the NPP’s destiny rests.
