NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Area Chapter Launches DMV Community Engagement Drive

Washington, DC – June 2025
The NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Area Chapter, under the leadership of Chairman Janis Asare-Bediako, has officially launched a bold community engagement initiative aimed at reconnecting with the Ghanaian diaspora across the DMV—Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This effort is designed to rekindle support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), strengthen trust within the community, and amplify awareness of the party’s mission and developmental agenda.

Connecting with the Community

This grassroots initiative involves active participation in events organized by local Ghanaian volunteer groups and associations. The chapter’s goal is to:

  • Engage on issues that matter to Ghanaians in the DMV area
  • Collaborate on solutions that uplift the community
  • Use these interactions as a platform to share NPP’s values, ideals, and vision for Ghana

By demonstrating a sustained commitment to the well-being of the diaspora, the NPP seeks to establish a strong, positive presence in the community.

Why the Diaspora Matters

The chapter recognizes the significant influence the diaspora wields in shaping opinions and voter behavior in Ghana—particularly through remittances and sustained family ties. The vision is clear:

“When the diaspora is informed and aligned with the NPP vision, it naturally becomes a powerful channel for influencing outcomes back home.”

This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to grow party support and momentum toward the 2028 elections, ensuring that the NPP remains the party of choice among Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

Kicking Off: Fitness & Fellowship

The chapter’s first outreach activity took place on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, with members participating in a community walk and exercise session organized by the Virginia One Love Keep Fit Club and the Virginia Ladies Association.

The event offered a unique opportunity for fellowship, fitness, and engagement, setting the tone for a sustained presence in future community initiatives.
