A Call to Reject President Mahama’s Deception
March 7, 2025“DUM” Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy: A Factory of Committees, A Cemetery of Jobs.
Emmanuel Writes:
I n January 2017, shortly after H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took office, their government swiftly began implementing their manifesto promises—One District, One Factory; One Constituency, One Ambulance; and many more, all aimed at creating jobs and strengthening the economy.
Fast forward to 2025, H.E. “DUM” Mahama, having been given the mandate, has embarked on his version of a 24-hour economy, but with a bizarre twist; one ministry, one committee. Barely a day passes without the formation of yet another committee, as though endless bureaucracies alone can put food on the table of struggling Ghanaians. If this is his vision of a 24-hour economy, then we should brace ourselves for a country where committees work around the clock while factories shut down and businesses collapse.
But here’s the real paradox: while “DUM” Mahama preaches job creation, he has ordered his Chief of Staff to terminate all employments made after December 7, 2024. How do you build a productive economy by sacking thousands of hardworking citizens? How do you promise economic growth yet push families into financial despair overnight? This is not a 24-hour economy—it is a 24-hour demolition of livelihoods.
It seems “DUM” Mahama’s strategy is simple: light up committees, quench jobs, and watch the economy flicker in darkness; just like the power outages he failed to fix in his previous administration and which are now becoming a recurring nightmare under his leadership. If this is the future Ghanaians signed up for, then we are not heading toward a 24-hour economy, but a 24-hour economic blackout.
