A Call to Reject President Mahama’s Deception
March 7, 2025
A Salute to the Faithful — and a Word for the Deceptive
March 28, 2025NPP-USA Condemns President Mahama’s Escalation from “Terminator-in-Chief” to “Silencer-in-Chief”
T he NPP-USA acknowledges the release of journalist Okatakyie Afrifa, who was unjustly detained by Mahama’s National Security operatives for simply exercising his constitutional right to free speech. While we welcome his release, his arrest sends a chilling message—under Mahama, no critic is safe. His government is willing to go to extreme lengths to silence dissenting voices.
We must ask: What kind of democracy arrests journalists for speaking their minds? What kind of leader wields power as a weapon to intimidate the press and suppress free speech? John Mahama has once again proven that he is not just the Terminator-in-Chief—he has now fully evolved into the Silencer-in-Chief.
State-Sponsored Thuggery: Mahama’s Use of Disgraced Security Operatives to Terrorize Ghanaians
As if cracking down on journalists wasn’t enough, Mahama’s government has now unleashed armed men on innocent civilians and political opponents.
The latest victim... Dr. Ernest Addison, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
- A group of about twenty armed men, led by Richard Jakpa, the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, stormed Dr. Addison’s private residence and ransacked it without just cause.
- This brazen act of political intimidation is nothing short of an abuse of power—an attempt to instill fear in those who refuse to bend to Mahama’s will.
And who is Richard Jakpa? A disgraced former soldier dismissed from the Ghana Armed Forces, officially declared unfit to serve in any security agency. Yet, Mahama has now empowered this man to terrorize innocent Ghanaians, political opponents, and journalists.
This is not governance—it is state-sponsored terrorism.
Mahama’s Ghana: Where Fear Replaces Freedom
Beyond targeting journalists and political opponents, Mahama’s administration is also purging hardworking public sector workers, many of whom have served Ghana diligently for years. Worse still, he is using discredited individuals like Jakpa to enforce his reign of terror on those who refuse to submit to his dictatorship.
This is not the Ghana we know. Mahama is turning our peaceful democracy into a mafia state, where political scores are settled through arrests, home invasions, and intimidation.
Ghanaians Must Resist—Mahama Will Not Be Allowed to Turn Ghana into a Lawless Jungle!
We call on all Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, to take notice. Today it was Okatakyie Afrifa. Today it was Dr. Ernest Addison. Tomorrow, it could be anyone.
We demand:
- A full investigation into the unlawful raid on Dr. Addison’s home and the immediate removal of Richard Jakpa from any state security role.
- An end to the culture of intimidation and political harassment under Mahama’s leadership.
- Immediate assurances from the National Security Secretariat that it will not be used as a private army for Mahama’s political witch hunts.
We also urge the international community, diplomatic missions, human rights organizations, and global media watchdogs to intervene before Ghana’s democracy is permanently undermined.
Mahama, Ghana Will Not Be Bullied! You Cannot Silence the Truth!
The NPP-USA stands firm in defending press freedom, human rights, and democracy. We will not allow Mahama and his cronies to turn Ghana into a lawless state where silence is the only way to survive.
Ghanaians, we must resist! Our voices must be louder than their oppression. The time to stand up is NOW!
Signed,
NPP-USA Communications Directorate
